How I got a brand new 911 at 25 years old

2026

I am not only in the car business, but the car business is in me. My dad has worked in sales at New Country Porsche in Greenwich for almost three decades. He’s delivered thousands of cars to some of the wealthiest people in the world.

About a year and a half ago, I started working at Miller Motorcars. All day long I’m surrounded by high net worth individuals and some of the most exclusive cars ever made. Naturally, I got the itch. Commuting to work in my 2012 manual Honda Fit was great and all, but eventually I wanted something a little more exciting.

The journey began. I started looking for a first generation Porsche Cayman S. Sweet car, analog, and something that may actually appreciate in the coming years. The only problem was finding one with the IMS bearing issue already resolved for a reasonable price.

My dad knew pretty quickly that I was looking to upgrade from the Fit, so like he always does, he kept an eye out for me. Then one day he had a dangerous idea.. an employee lease deal on a brand new Carrera T.

To be fair, I’m not actually a Porsche employee, but luckily I know someone who is.

My dad has always had the dream of driving a brand new Porsche, so he made me an offer: “Let’s split the Carrera T down the middle. Payments, insurance, property taxes, all of it.”

And just like that, I found myself driving a car that doesn’t violently shake when I exceed 60 miles an hour.

For legal reasons, I always keep it under the speed limit. But it feels good knowing I could embarrass most cars on the road if I wanted to.

The best part is there’s a very real chance we’ll have equity in the car once the lease is up. So technically, I may end up getting paid to drive a manual Porsche for two years.

Life is sweet and the best part is.. I kept the Honda Fit.
